Our Flat Stanley writing has finally gone up on the wall. The class wrote their version of how they wanted Stanley to be flattened. The stories range from magical food squishing Stanley to Stanley being blown by the wind and flattened. They also designed their version of how Stanley looks.
Our pumpkin art is now being displayed on the bulletin board. Students used darker colors for shading in order to make the pumpkins seem more realistic.
We have begun implementing Daily 5 in the classroom. We will start with Daily 2, and in the picture, you can see students reading to self and reading to someone. The bags are their book bags in which they carry around their books.
Today, we practiced the rock cycle by acting out each stage. Students came up with actions of how they wanted to represent certain parts of the rock cycle. In the pictures you can see examples of a volcano erupting, layers forming for sedimentary rocks and pressure changing sedimentary rocks into metamorphic rocks.

This week, we completed our Jack-O-Lantern's using only two colors and patterns as the shading. Students will be taking them home and keeping them. They all turned out so good!
This week we completed our haunted house writing. The class first wrote an ad that described their house, and all its interesting features. Once the writing portion was done, the class created their own version of a haunted house using construction paper. All the haunted houses turned out amazing!
We have begun our rock PowerPoint presentations, these were the first to present this week.
